Essential oils are becoming more and more popular, and therefore used by more people than ever. This is partly because of the “big name companies” that have a lot of money to market to everyone.
Because of this huge explosion, people are wanting to learn how to use essential oils. There are many different ways that people are learning and getting training—some good training and some bad (sad to say). We have experienced them both and you may have, too. No matter what or where you may have received training, we always believe there is room for more, continued training.
Why do people take aromatherapy classes?
Some people who attend our aromatherapy classes in Sedona just want to learn how to use essential oils safely for themselves and their family. Others really want to either begin a new essential oil business or aromatherapy career, or somehow incorporate aromatherapy into an already existing business like yoga, massage, acupuncture, naturopathy, or a chiropractic practice. There are many different alternative healing modalities where essential oils are a perfect complement.
How do you advance your aromatherapy career?
The best way to advance your aromatherapy career, or to begin one, is to get more training. We always incorporate “the business of aromatherapy” into our classes. We talk about the practical aspects that we have experience with—customers, pricing, products, consultations, social media, website development, and labeling, just to name a few. All of these are really important fundamentals in advancing a career in aromatherapy.
Listen to your gut and honor your own energy.
There is one topic we cover that we believe is extremely important. That is the emotional and energetic component that goes into an aromatherapy career. Most of you already know that the energetic component of essential oils is essential to us here at Stillpoint. The energetic piece is also really important in every aspect of our business.
Most people feel this and most people “get it”. Have you ever gone into a store, a restaurant or even a room and just got a “feeling”? This is something intangible, some people may call woo-woo, or so Sedona-like. But we believe there is really something to it!
What about “words on water”? Masaru Emoto claimed that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. We feel the same is true in any business or career. Isn’t there something magical about creating or advancing your aromatherapy career?
Consider getting an Aromatherapy Certification, but follow your own path.
Becoming a Certified Aromatherapist is certainly important. We’re both teachers and we have an Aromatherapy school. However, there is so much more than just textbook learning. We feel if there is passion, then there is an energetic connection. When we taught little ones in elementary school, we really loved it. We had passion when we designed our curriculum and set up our classroom. It was fun. It was creative. When we teach any of our aromatherapy classes, we love to see this passion and the creative energy flowing when people are blending and having fun with essential oils. You probably have heard the saying that goes something like, “find your passion and the money will follow”. Another favorite saying is from a friend who had a motto that was something like “follow your own path”. This is that energetic component that really does make a career or business successful.
If you want to advance your aromatherapy career, or if you want to start an aromatherapy career, or if you want to be successful with aromatherapy and essential oils in any and every way, try to find the energetic connection. What makes you happy? What makes you and others feel good? Start there. Build from there. Get trained. Take classes. Take more classes. Find your passion!
